Storehouse

 storehouse

Storehouse aims to give hope to the people in Glasgow.  We want to help those people in our city who can’t afford to look after themselves fully, providing them with food and toiletries.   God loves Glasgow and He loves everyone in it.  As His followers, we’ve been taught to live as Jesus did.  This means helping people who are in need, and that’s what we are trying to do by feeding the hungry and serving the poor.

Many people in Glasgow are sitting on the poverty line and frequently have to choose between paying their rent/bills or buying food.  As a church we want to show God’s love by helping to meet some of their basic needs.

To achieve this, we have partnered with an agency called Starter Packs, who distribute the food and toiletries we collect to people in need, all of whom are referred by the Social Work Department.  Starter Packs also distribute other things such as furniture, bedding, cutlery, crockery etc.  We mainly collect food and toiletries, but if you have any of the other items we can also pass these on to Starter Packs.

Our collection point is situated in the entrance foyer of the building where we meet as a Church.  It is operational every week and the items we recieve are delivered to Starter Packs every second week.  It is also possible to drop items off at the Vineyard Office, 23 Old Dumbarton Road, Yorkhill.

We also have other roles for people who would like to be more 'hands on' with this ministry by being part of the “Storehouse Team”.  If this interests you please contact  Nino Hinz or Lucy McVittie.

I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,

I was homeless and you gave me a room,

I was shivering and you gave me clothes,

I was sick and you stopped to visit,

I was in prison and you came to me.’

"…'Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me…you did it to me.'
