Role of the Church

The Role of the Church
Called to be a Family
This means that God calls us to become brothers and sisters giving mutual encouragement. Each person should have those they know and are known by in the church family. We also want to be a place that nurtures and helps our natural families. The following ministries are some of the opportunities for strengthening that sense of family in the church!
Young Vineyard - our ministry for children where they can have fun as they learn about God and how to love him in a friendly and secure place.
Kinships /Small groups - meeting midweek to make friends, receive pastoral care, learn to minister and grow in discipleship.
Social Activities - an expanding number of social and enjoyable activities in order to introduce our friends, promote friendships and address relevant needs that we all face.
Pre Marriage Courses - we want to equip prospective newly wed couples for married life.
Called to be an Army
We are to be a company of believers, who are trained for active service something every Christian should do. We aim to serve others with the gifts and abilities God gives us. Because we are a church where everyone is involved we are more like an army than an audience. Each one of us has a vital place in the work of God and our goal is to help each person to find and function in their role.
Sunday Support Teams - every Sunday we see teams, who give their time and energy in order to encourage and benefit the rest of the body. Teams welcome people, serve refreshments, help with the layout of the building. Others run our Information CD and Book Desks. It works well because everyone is willing to play his or her part.
Grace ministries - is an essential part of our outreach work to those in need in the community. Showing Christ's compassion through providing food, clothing We believe the Good News must be seen as well as heard!
Evangelism - we believe that friendship is the key. As one person put it "The first Bible people ever read is you." We encourage people to bring their friends to services and gatherings where people can find faith in Jesus.
Music - plays a very important part in the life of the Vineyard both as a form of worship as well as outreach. Many musicians and singers are involved and we hope to see God inspiring song writing and therefore recording sessions and the development of new bands in the future. For more details.
Prayer Groups - to ask for the release of God's word, works and ways.
Church Planting & Missions - the planting of new congregations and churches at home and abroad.
Called to be a Hospital
God has clearly called The Vineyard to be a place where those who have been hurt and broken can receive healing. We are a place where the Holy Spirit can work actively and powerfully upon us whene ver we meet. We recognise that we all need healing. In fact, it is because we are an army, caught up in a spiritual battle, that we also need to be a hospital. We want to bring God's care to the casualties and wounds we experience. Part of this care is provided by ministries such as.
Called to be a School
We know that God has called the Westend Vineyard to be a place of training and equipping. That is because Jesus calls us to be not merely believers, but disciples - those who are being trained to bring the ministry of Jesus others.
In the future we intend to expand on our training within the fellowship and offer courses on many aspects of Christian living and ministry, e.g. Alpha, Spiritual maturity, discovering gifting, personal financial management.
